Focusing primarily on collected imagery and recurring motifs, I found the work of Mia’s visually interesting straight away, particularly in considering materiality and the found image within a fine art practice. The layers of strange objects, such as fruit and wellies, alongside eyes and mouths, create images that are at times eery but also comedic.
Using observations, dates and found imagery, the work is diaristic. The collections of imagery showing a clear focus on documentation as a process, capturing visually the artists thoughts and surroundings.
