Latham’s use of vibrant blue (in the ‘Untitled’, 2021, image) creates a real depth of imaginative wonder towards empty space and moments between bodily movement. The obscured focus of subject entices the viewer into creating a narrative of their own, whilst relating it to themes of the body, connection, or relation to oneself. I can really see influences of personal experience and moments of great connectivity to others. The use of figures within the compositions gives an implication of human experience, whilst the digital image creates space between truth and reality. The distortion on the subjects creates an opportunity to wonder about the original image, subsequently questioning what Latham had intended. At the same time there is tension between your own association with the images/colours/forms shown. These digital images portray a vivid narrative close to human experience, but also further enough away from real depiction to envision a distant reality.
