Mathushaa’s works, available here, strive to explore her Tamil background and celebrate South Asian culture as a whole. The concept of sentimental reflection upon familial history concerning immigration to the UK is explored in the piece, வலிமை & விரிதிறன் meaning "Strength & Resilience". There seems to be a grandiose facing of two patterns of thought (/ideologies), the first of history, ‘how she came to be in this place’, with the latter, her current day interpretation of it, or ‘her sense of place now’. I first discovered her work by broadly reaching out to the Working-Class Creatives Database group chat, which we both happen to be in, to find someone whose work I could speak about in an attempt to promote and uplift rather than choosing at random. I feel overwhelmingly privileged that it was her whose works I was permitted to explore. The subtleties, nuance, and contextualisation to her photographic works on display are, in a word, enriching. They are definitively emotive as well as incredibly visually stimulating compositionally.
