Tom McVeigh's illustrations stood out to me mainly because of the composition and artistic skills. The way McVeigh chooses to position and place the subjects in the drawings within the chosen background gives a very uncommon yet familiar feeling. I feel the contrast McVeigh creates between the subject matter and background is very abstract while giving a sense of placement. I feel this is due to using very familiar imagery for example, incorporating what seems to be a living room behind this angel figure. Along with his artistic decisions of subject placement, the artistic skills McVeigh possesses are at a very high level. Each part of these drawings are very detailed and precise giving it a grain effect similar to analogue photography. Moe Kellan Osborne Second Year, Fine Art Photography
