Wong’s pieces are playful, imaginative and using a variety of mediums, combining an illustrative practice with internet culture. There are both elements of physical, tactile materials, like using grass to ”draw with” and intangible digital imagery. Wong’s website can be seen functioning as a diary of sorts, or a glimpse into the inner workings of the artist. There is a webgame, taking you through a scenario made using the sims (kind of meta to create a scenario game out of a simulation game) of walking through an office block building. When you press the button to tell the receptionist to smile you are immediately prompted to leave the game as ”you are the worst kind of person” with the words ”get out” in flames. If you manage to finish the game you are welcomed into a webpage of curiosities starting with Wong’s diary, aged 16. The website is set out as a collage and showcases text conversations, social media posts, and all kinds of images you would most probably find you reblogged on Tumblr in 2014. The website tells a story about identity, heritage and how it can be like to grow up on the internet; an endless loop of images being fed into your brain.
