These drawings, in particular the piece in colour, evoke a strong sense of nostalgia for me, and with this also comes a feeling of familiarity and comfort. The layering of components in the compositions adds a type of censorship, resulting in a feeling of wanting to move yourself to view the scene from a different angle, in hope of seeing what information is being withheld behind whatever is dominating the foreground.
There is a combination of sharp, defined, straight lines, and softer ones in both images, giving evidence of the drawing process, and this really helps to separate each element within the drawings, giving them an almost collaged effect, similar to techniques I have been experimenting with in my own work. The drawings are intriguing and work well in creating a narrative, albeit riddled with gaps left to the viewers imagination to fill.
